A PRAYER OF APPEAL
O Lord, my God, I call for help by day;
I cry out in the night before thee.
Let my prayer come before thee,
incline thy ear to my cry!
Hear my prayer, 0 God;
give ear to the words of my mouth.
Give ear to my words, 0 Lord;
give heed to my groaning.
Give ear to my prayer, 0 God;
and hide not yourself from my supplication!
Hear my cry, 0 God,
listen to my prayer;
From the end of the earth I call to you,
when my heart is faint.
To you, 0 Lord, I call;
my rock, be not deaf to me,
Lest if thou be silent to me,
I become like those who go down to the Pit.
Hear the voice of my supplication,
as I cry to thee for help,
As I lift up my hands
toward thy most holy sanctuary.
Incline thy ear, 0 Lord, and answer me,
for I am poor and needy.
Preserve my life, for I am godly;
save thy servant who trusts in thee.
Thou art my God; be gracious to me, 0 Lord,
for to thee do I cry all the day.
Gladden the soul of thy servant,
for to thee, 0 Lord, do I lift up my soul.
For thou, 0 Lord, art good and forgiving,
abounding in steadfast love to all who call on thee.
Give ear, 0 Lord, to my prayer;
hearken to my cry of supplication.
In the day of my trouble I call on thee,
for thou dost answer me.
Thou hast seen, 0 Lord; be not silent!
0 Lord, be not far from me!
With my whole heart I cry; answer me, 0 Lord!v
I will keep thy statutes.
I cry to thee; save me,
that I may observe thy testimonies.
I rise before dawn and cry for help;
I hope in thy words.
My eyes are awake before the watches of the night,
that I may meditate upon thy promise.
Hear my voice in thy steadfast love;
I call upon thee, 0 Lord; make haste to me!
Give ear to my voice, when I call to thee!
Let my prayer be counted as incense before thee,
and the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice
I say to the Lord, Thou art my God;
give ear to the voice of my supplications, 0 Lord!
To thee I lift up my eyes,
0 thou who art enthroned in the heavens!
Behold, as the eyes of servants
look to the hand of their master,
As the eyes of a maid
to the hand of her mistress,
So our eyes look to the Lord our God,
till he have mercy upon us.
Have mercy upon us, 0 Lord, have mercy upon us.v
Hear my prayer, 0 Lord,
and give ear to my cry;
hold not thy peace at my tears!
For I am thy passing guest,
a sojourner, like all my fathers.
O God, do not keep silence;
do not hold thy peace or be still, 0 God!
Incline thy ear to me,
rescue me speedily!
Be thou a rock of refuge for me,
a strong fortress to save me!
Hear my prayer, 0 Lord;
let my cry come to thee!
Do not hide thy face from me
in the day of my distress!
Incline thy ear to me;
answer me speedily in the day when I call!
I call upon thee, for thou wilt answer me, 0 God;
incline thy ear to me, hear my words.
Do not thou, 0 Lord, withhold thy mercy from me,
let thy steadfast love and thy faithfulness ever preserve me!
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in thy sight,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
Our soul waits for the Lord;
he is our help and shield.
Yea, our heart is glad in him,
because we trust in his holy name.
Let thy steadfast love, 0 Lord, be upon us,
even as we hope in thee.
Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him;
Wait for the Lord;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
yea, wait for the Lord!
For God alone my soul waits in silence,
for my hope is from him.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope;
My soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen for the morning,
more than watchmen for the morning.
